Meet the people behind the sheep
Richard and Bronwyn are an animal-loving, down-to-earth couple from the Waikato region of New Zealand.
They have farming in their blood, both coming from hardworking and passionate farming families. Together, they have bred sheep on their three-acre block, Kakepuku Views, for the last 30 years.
They learned about the Swiss-bred Valais Blacknose Sheep in 2019 and began a journey to introduce the special breed to their farm. After purchasing two foundation ewes from a farm park in 2021 the flock has expanded rapidly.
They have now completed two years of breeding cycles and are proud to have welcomed over 100 of the “world’s cutest sheep” to their backyard. “Sheep watching” is one of their favourite pastimes - they love watching the lambs play, skip and dance.
Richard, a veterinarian with 40 years’ experience, specialises in production animal breeding and nutrition and is passionate about offering quality stock and genetics. Bronwyn has raised pet lambs since she was three and is fast to pick up on any flock members needing help. Between them they have rescued many struggling lambs over the years.
Together, they are the ultimate “dream team” and are passionate about breeding Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep with the utmost care and attention.
